Aberdeenshire Castles

Aberdeenshire has a lot of castles! That’s a total understatement! Aberdeenshire has more castles per square mile than any other region in the United Kingdom – not just Scotland! It can be hard to decide which castles to include on your tour, let us help by creating a themed tour or by using your own interests to develop your custom itinerary.

To arrange your tour get in touch here!

There are over 300 castles here – not all are open to the public but some of the most famous castle names are!

Balmoral – the obvious big name, privately owned by the royal family and set in extensive grounds. Open to the public only when the royal family are not using it this impressive castle is easy to find and well known. Just along the road though (15 minute drive) is a smaller building in Braemar Castle… Don’t want to go West?

Go North instead then to the impressive Corgarff Castle and barracks! Or east towards Aberdeen along Royal Deeside!! In fact follow the wind and you’ll wind up on the door of another castle!

At Your Scotland Tour we’ve developed a number of castle trail itineraries and have shared some of the development work with our friends at Grampian Escapes and Tours.

Your Scotland Tour and Grampian Escapes are working together to make the castles of Aberdeenshire accessible from Edinburgh, Dundee, Glasgow and even further afield! If you’re looking to visit Dunnottar, Crathes, Drum, Balmoral, Braemar, New Slains, Craigievar or indeed any of Aberdeeshires castles’s we can help you plan your day(s) and supply experienced professional driver guides to make your day as amazing as the castles.

We have a wealth of experience and knowledge and can assist with lunch stops, shopping and souvenir purchases and some of those iconic photo stops too!
