June in Scotland
Weather
Touring Scotland in June is a beautiful time of year to visit. The days are very long as we head toward the summer solstice with around 18 hours of daylight in more northern areas. It’s a great time of year for outdoor pursuits such as Golf, hillwalking, camping and more generally being a tourist too.
Expect some warm sunny days punctuated by showers and the occasional rainy day. You’ll need warmer clothes in the evening and nights – a light jacket / wind stopper is ideal. The key, as always, to dealing with Scottish weather is to use layers!
We offer tours throughout the year and typically find June in Scotland is a busy month, get in touch here before we’re fully booked!

Flora and Fauna
Our climate, with a great mixture of wet and warm weather creates a very green natural environment. By the end of June every summer plant is well into the growing season. We’re starting to see summer flowers coming out. You’d definitely see the early growth of the Scottish thistle and the worst stinging plant we have the ‘nettle’ will be out and about too. Do note there is NO poison Oak, NO poison Ivy and NO poison Summac in Scotland!
However, we do have the midge. A small biting insect that swarms in the thousands. Don’t worry, windy days keep them at bay and only the female bites to incubate her eggs. The bites are itchy but come with no diseases or secondary infections. There are myriad products available to help keep the midge at bay however our guides rarely need to use them.
All of Scotland is alive with bird song and the rustle of critters in the undergrowth. We’ll see lots of the native creatures as well as many farmed animals. Sheep and cattle being the main meat growth we’ll see in the fields.
We run tours all year round, June is a fantastic month to visit Scotland and we’re often very busy so enquire here before we’re fully booked!
